GALLERY

금산갤러리는 1992년 개관이래 현대미술 중심의 회화, 설치, 미디어, 조각, 사진, 판화 등의 전시를 기획·소개하며 현대 미술의 전 장르를 아울러 다루고 있다. 또한 현대 미술을 해외에 소개하는데 앞장서 오고 있으며, 다수의 해외 교류 전을 통하여 클로드 비알라, 로즈마리 트로켈, 장-마리 해슬리, 오타 사부로, 아라키 노부요시, 아오키 노에, 유키 마츠에다, 오스카 오이와, 타츠미 오리모토, 유키 오노데라, 게이지 우에마스, 장왕, 지다춘, 수이젠궈, 팡리준, 왕두, 쩌춘야 등 해외의 유수한 작가들을 국내로 소개하였다.

특히 금산갤러리는 미술을 매개로 한 아시아 여러 나라와의 문화교류를 추진하여 아시아를 하나로 모으는 역할을 주도적으로 하고 있다. 이러한 목표의 일환으로 2006년 헤이리 아시아 프로젝트 중국현대예술페스티벌 “허허실실(虛虛实实)”과 2007년 일본현대예술제 “동고동락(同苦同樂)”을 기획하였으며, 또한 2007년 에서 인도의 중견 작가와 신인 작가들을 섭외하여 인도의 추상, 구상 회화와 사진작업을 포함한 전시회를 기획하였다. 이를 필두로 각 아시아 국가의 문화 전반에 걸쳐 대중의 전반적인 이해도를 넓힘으로써 아시아 문화예술발전과 아시아 문화벨트 형성에 촉매제 역할을 해오고 있다.

또한 일찍이 한국, 일본, 미국, 홍콩, 중국 등 다수의 국제 아트 페어에 참가함으로써 한국의 현대미술을 해외 미술무대에 활발하게 소개해오고 있다. 금산갤러리가 해외에 소개하고 있는 한국작가는 박서보, 이우환, 김아타, 배준성, 이재효, 박승모, 배병우, 최영돈, 김성남, 이동수, 권용래, 박현주, 권대훈 등을 포함한다.

Since Keumsan Gallery in Seoul opened in 1992, it has dealt with all mediums of contemporary art by directing and introducing exhibitions with painting, installation, media art, sculpture, photograph, and printing. In addition, the gallery has endeavored to be the leader in introducing contemporary art overseas, and has continued to introduce well-known overseas artists to Korea including Claude Viallat, Rosemarie Trockel, Jean-Marie Haessle, Ota Saburo, Araki Nobuyoshi, Aoki Noe, Yuki Matsueda, Oscar Oiwa, Tatsumi Orimoto, Yuki Onodera, Keiji Uematsu, Zhan Wang, Ji Da Chun, Sui Jianguo, Fang Lijun, Wang Du, and Zhou Chunya through showcasing in a number of international cultural exchange exhibitions.

Keumsan Gallery seeks to unite Asian culture by promoting cultural exchange among various Asian countries, with “arts” as a medium. With such aim, Keumsan Gallery has directed numerous art festivals including Hyeri Asia Project I and II-Chinese Contemporary Art Festival “Unclear and Clearness(虛虛实实)” and Japanese Contemporary Art Festival “Sharing Sorrows and Joys(同苦同樂)” in 2006 and 2007, respectively. An exhibition of Indian Art in 2007 titled in which both emerging and well-known Indian artists displayed artworks including photographs, abstract and representational paintings is yet another example that reflects Keumsan Gallery’s goal of uniting Asian culture into a single platform. Beginning with the above exhibitions, Keumsan Gallery has been working as a catalyst for the development of Asian arts and culture, and the formation of Asian culture platform.

Moreover, Keumsan Gallery has continuously represented Korean artists in international art market from early on, by participating in a number of overseas art fairs taking place in countries including Korea, Japan, U.S, Hong Kong, and China. The gallery has represented major Korean artists including Seobo Park, Ufan Lee, Atta Kim, Joonsung Bae, Jaehyo Lee, Seungmo Park, Bea Bien U, Youngdon Choi, Sungnam Kim, Dongsu Lee, Yongrae Kwon, Hyunjoo Park, and Daehun Kwon.
